Saudi Arabia Opens Registration for Foreign Pilgrims for Hajj 2024

IQNA – Saudi Arabia has started accepting applications from foreign pilgrims who wish to perform Hajj 2024, the annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca.

The Center for International Communication (CIC), under the Ministry of Media, announced on Monday that Muslim pilgrims from all over the world can register themselves and their families for Hajj 1445/2024 through the Nusuk Hajj app, which is supervised by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

The app allows pilgrims from Asia, Africa, Europe, North America, South America and Oceania to choose from various Hajj packages offered by authorized service providers, Saudi Gazette reported.

To register, pilgrims need to create a personal account on the app with their email address and select their current country of residence from the list of countries eligible for 2024 Hajj pilgrimage. More details about the registration can be found on the website hajj.nusuk.sa.

Hajj is one of the pillars of Islam and a mandatory religious duty for every able adult Muslim. It involves a series of rites and rituals that are performed in and around Mecca, the holiest city in Islam.

The Hajj of 2023 was the first full-capacity pilgrimage since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to official statistics, 1,845,045 pilgrims, including 1,660,915 foreigners and 184,130 locals, took part in the pilgrimage.

The statistics also showed that 969,694 of the pilgrims were male and 875,351 were female. The majority of the pilgrims, 1,056,317, came from Asian countries, accounting for 63.5 percent of the total. The number of pilgrims from Arab countries was 346,214, representing 21 percent of the total.
