IQNA – A Lebanese scholar said acting upon the teachings and Seerah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and Etrat (the Prophet’s household) is necessary for getting prepared for the advent of the Savior.

Lebanese scholar Hojat-ol-Islam Sheikh Tawfiq Alawiyah

Hojat-ol-Islam Sheikh Tawfiq Alawiyah made the remark in an interview with IQNA conducted on the occasion of Mid-Shaaban- the 15th day of the lunar Hijri month of Shaaban, which marks the birthday of Imam Zaman (may God hasten his glad advent).

Alawiyah said the Quranic and religious celebrations held to mark the Eids of the month of Shaaban, especially Mid-Shaaban, are good opportunities to elaborate on the virtues of the Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) and preparing for the reappearance of Imam Zaman (AS).

He said striving to promote attention to the Thaqalayn (the Quran and Ahl-ul-Bayt) would greatly contribute to the moral development of Muslim societies and make them the best societies.

He regretted that in some Muslim societies, attention is paid to one of the Thaqalayn but not to the other, stressing that importance must be attached to both of them, and the Islamic Republic of Iran is a successful example of it.

Salvation, happiness, guidance, blessings, and success require paying attention to both of the Thaqalayn, he stated.

Alawiyah described Shaaban as the month of happiness and celebration for Muslims and said celebrations are held by both Shia and Sunni Muslims on the auspicious occasions of this month in countries like Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey, Morocco, Kuwait, Lebanon, India, Egypt, Syria and Indonesia.

The Lebanese cleric also described it as important to hold Quran competition during the Shaaban eids in order to promote the Quran among people and encouraging them to act upon its teachings.
