IQNA – While the beauty of paradise is indescribable, the Quran compares it to an amazing scene in this world that is always green and lush and rivers of clear water flow underneath its gardens.

Quran describes paradise as gardens beneath which rivers of clear water flow

There are many verses in the Quran talking about paradise and people of paradise. In Verse 11 of Surah Al-Buruj, the Quran describes it like this:

“For those who believe and do righteous deeds, will be Gardens; beneath which rivers flow: That is the great Salvation, (the fulfilment of all desires).”

There is also a similar description in Verse 198 of Surah Al Imran:

“But for those who fear their Lord, for them shall be Gardens underneath which rivers flow, there they shall live for ever, a (goodly) hosting from Allah, and that which is with Allah is better for the righteous.”

Compared to what is in this world, paradise is described as gardens full of trees and greenery. “And gardens dense and luxuriant.” (Verse 16 of Surah An-Naba) Paradise is called Jannah in Arabic as it has thick foliage whose shade is eternal.

“(It has) everlasting fruits, and perpetual shade.” (Verse 35 of Surah Ar-Raad)
