The artworks by Iranian artists Asghar Mohammadi and Ali Bahmani will also include the Iranian art of Tazhib (illumination and ornamentation).

The exhibition is scheduled for April 18-20, according to Abuzar Toghani, Iran’s Cultural Attaché in the Central Asian country.

The two Iranian artists will also hold a workshop at the museum on the arts of calligraphy and Tazhib, he said.

Toghani note that the calligraphy works to be put on display at the expo are in Thulth and Shekasteh Nastaliq styles and decorated with Tazhib.

Tazhib is an Arabic word which has been derived from “zahab”. “Zahab” means gold and Tazhib means gilding and to add golden shine to margins and surfaces. Tazhib is the art of gilding book pages, calligraphy pieces and margins of paintings, especially pages of the Holy Quran.
