Iranian Nation to Prevail against Criminal Conspiracies of Enemies: Leader
In a message on Thursday, the Leader assured that the perpetrators of the outrageous crime will definitely face punishment, adding that the Iranian nation will definitely prevail against the criminal conspiracies of the enemies.
Fifteen pilgrims lost their lives and at least 40 others were wounded after an armed terrorist opened indiscriminate fire at Shah Cheragh, a highly revered Shia shrine in the southern city of Shiraz, Fars Province, on Wednesday.
Two terrorists involved in the assault have been arrested, while a search is underway to nab the third.
Shortly after the attack, the Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terror group claimed responsibility.
The text of the Leader’s message is as follows.
In the Name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The heinous crime that took place in the holy shrine of Ahmad ibn Musa (pbuh) and led to the martyrdom and injury of tens of innocent men, women, and children saddened and grieved hearts. The perpetrator or perpetrators of this heinous crime will surely be punished. But their loved ones' pain and the desecration of the Ahl al-Bayt's shrine (pbut) will not be compensated for except by searching for the roots of these tragedies and taking decisive, wise action about them. All have duties in confronting the warmongering enemy and its traitorous or ignorant, negligent agents. From those in security and Justice to all our dear people, all must be unified against a trend that condones disregarding and disrespecting people's lives, security and sanctities. The dear Iranian nation and the responsible sectors will definitely prevail against the criminal conspiracies of the enemies, God willing.
I express my condolences to the bereaved families of this attack, to the people of Shiraz and to all Iranians and I ask Almighty God for the soon recovery of the injured.
