Quranic Circle Staged at Imam Hussein (AS) Shrine
According to Astan’s website, Quranic circles were held at the first three nights of the lunar month of Sha’aban at the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS).
Every year, various ceremonies are organized in different parts of the world on the birthday anniversaries of Imam Hussein (AS), Hazrat Abbas (AS) and Imam Sajjad (AS), which fall on the 3rd, 4th and 5th of the lunar Hijri month of Sha’aban, respectively.
Similar Quranic sessions will also be held from Sha’aban 11, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Hazrat Ali Akbar (AS), the son of Imam Hussein, to Sha’aban 15, the birth anniversary of the 12th infallible Imam (may God hasten his glad advent).
A group of qaris from Najaf and other Iraqi cities perform recitation in the sessions.
Tens of thousands of pilgrims are expected to visit the holy shrines in Karbala during the month of Sha’aban to take part in various ceremonies planned on these birth anniversaries.
