International webinar on Palestine underscored the need for unity among Muslim nations and governments

The Webinar “International Quds Day and Necessity of Unity for Ultimate Victory in Palestine” was held by the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) on Monday.

Zaynab al-Salim, a University of Basra professor and Quran activist, said at the webinar that unity and resistance are necessary for victory in Palestine.

She also described the International Quds Day as a great spiritual victory for Muslims as it demonstrated the power of Muslims and showed the signs of the divine Sunnahs (rules) regarding the victory of Palestine.

The International Quds Day is a legacy of the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, who designated the day in solidarity with Palestinians.

Since the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran, the International Quds Day has been held worldwide on the last Friday of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.

This year, the International Quds Day fell on Friday, April 14.

In her speech at the Monday webinar, Lebanese university scholar Dallal Abbas said Imam Khomeini (RA) considered supporting the cause of Palestine and fighting against colonialism as a religious duty.

She said that by declaring a day as the International Quds Day, Imam Khomeini sought to unite all Muslims, regardless of their race, language and school of thought, to unite in support of Palestine.

She added that the victories achieved by Arabs in Lebanon, Palestine, Syria and Yemen have been accomplished thanks to the Islamic Republic of Iran and the principles introduced by Imam Khomeini.

Social studies researcher Sajidah Haeri from Iraq was another speaker at the webinar.

She said Imam Khomeini paid a lot of attention to the issue of Palestine and used all his power in supporting the cause of Palestine.

She noted that Imam Khomeini considered the International Quds Day to be the day of Islam and the day of defeat of world powers.

She also referred to the heroic resistance of the people of the Gaza Strip and said they have proven that will never abandon their land despite all of the Israeli atrocities.

Razan Barakat, another scholar from Lebanon, said Imam Khomeini made the International Quds Day a day for reviving the issue of Palestine in the minds of the Muslim Ummah and preparing the ground for liberation of Palestine.
