The meeting of the Arab League foreign ministers, also attended by its secretary general, Ahmed Aboul Gheit of Egypt, began in Beirut, on Saturday, the nna-leb.gov.lb website reported.
According to the AL’s deputy, Hossam Zaki, the meeting discussed preparation for the Arab summit to be held in Algeria in October.
Also on the agenda was the situation of refugees, hunger in Somalia, and the issue of food security he said.
Zaki added that the issue of Palestine was raised at the meeting and the participants underscored their countries’ support for the Palestinian issue and for Lebanon.
Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki said at the gathering that the situation in Palestine is worrying and Arab countries should pay more attention to what is going on in Palestinian lands, including the Israeli regime’s violation of Palestinian people’s rights and its war crimes.
