62 Countries Voice Readiness to Attend Iran’s Int’l Quran Contest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Head of Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization said 62 countries have so far confirmed their readiness to participate in the Islamic Republic’s 32nd International Quran Competition.

Hojat-ol-Islam Ali Mohammadi made the remark on Monday in a meeting in Tehran for coordinating the activities of the committees involved in organizing the contest.


He noted that 70 countries had representatives in the last edition of the international event and predicted that the number of participating countries this year will be more, Fars news agency reported.


Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammadi underlined that the presence of contenders from various countries of the world will highlight the fact that Iran is not isolated despite attempts by its enemies.


He also underlined the need for promoting the message of the Islamic Revolution through the competition.


Iran’s 32nd International Quran Competition will start on May15, on the occasion of Mab’ath (marking anniversary of the day when Muhammad (PBUH) was ordered by Allah to declare his Prophethood to the world).


It will take place in the categories of memorization of the entire Quran and Tahghigh recitation of the Quran.

It will run for a week and come to a conclusion during the closing ceremony on Friday, May 22.


Hassan Danesh and Mohammad Mehdi Rajabi will respectively represent Iran in the recitation and memorization category of the contest.
