University students in Egypt have begun a plan to collect copies of the Quran and distribute them in other African countries.

According to Al-Yawm Al-Sabi website, implementation of the plan started by members of the medical students union in the city of Tanta.
Mustafa Nabil, an organizer, said that the participants collect the copies that are not read in Egyptian homes and send them to people who need them in other countries in Africa.
He said copies with English translations are needed more as Muslims who are not fluent in Arabic can read the translation.
Nabil went on to say that the Tabliq Islam Society and Egypt’s Ministry of Social Solidarity will cooperate in sending and distributing the copies in other countries.
Almost one-third of the world's Muslim population resides in African states.
It was the first continent, outside of Arabia that Islam spread into in the early 7th century.
