43 Countries Confirm Participation in Algeria Int'l Quran Contest

43 countries have so far confirmed their participation in Algeria's international Quran competition.


Algeria's Religious Affairs Minister Muhammad Issa, made the announcement, adding that the 11th edition of the contest will be held in the capital Algiers.



Contenders will compete in the categories of memorization, interpretation and Tajweed recitation of the Holy Quran.



Issa said a documentary film is being produced featuring the past 10 edition of the international Quranic event.



Algeria's 11th International Holy Quran Competition will be held from 20th to 25th of Ramadan (July 18-23) under the supervision of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.



Ali Reza Feizi will represent the Islamic Republic of Iran in the competition.



Meanwhile, a national Quran contest began on Monday in Algeria to select representatives of the North African country in the international Quran contest.



It is being held for Quran reciters and memorizers aged 20 to 25, and 10 contenders will make it to the final round.
