The former Senegalese foreign minister, appointed to his new position on Friday, said he was going to Central African Republic "to ensure immediate cessation of hostilities and killings, besides encouraging the increase of humanitarian assistance and advocating for Central African Republic's economic reconstruction.”
The OIC special envoy to Central African Republic said he will intervene not just as a Muslim, but also as a PanAfricanist.
Gadio who is the director of the PanAfrican Strategy Institute (IPS), said he had spent months trying to resolve Central African Republic's crisis and that he had held talks with the country's political class including Transition President Catherine Samba Panza.
"Now is the time to go and join those who are on the ground. They have made a lot of effort, made much sacrifice and done a lot to help the Central African Republic's people," he concluded.
