Rare Golden Quran Copy Gifted to Museum in Karbala

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The museum of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein Shrine has been presented with a rare copy of the Holy Quran decorated with gold and silver.

 

An unnamed devotee of Ahl al-Bayt (AS) presented a rare Quran copy to the museum. It is adorned with gold, copper, diamonds, platinum and silver, Iraq's Noon news agency reported.

Ghassan Shahristani, the chief of the Museum, says the precious work is coated with 18 and 24 carat gold. It also has 1,500 grams of pure silver, 21 copper sheets and silver and platinum plates, and a 1.5 carat diamonds, he added.

The amount of gold used to create this Quran scroll is four kilograms. It is written in the handwriting of Usman Taha, a renowned calligrapher.

The Quran is now on display at the museum.
