Iran, Turkey Discuss Ways to Enhance Religious Coop.
Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Mehdi Imanipour met and held talks with a Turkish delegation headed by President of the Union of Shia Scholars of Turkey (Jaber) Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyid Seccad Karakuş.
Pointing to the need for boosting unity among all Muslims, the Iranian official highlighted that such unity for any nation leads to achieving goals and prevents resentments.
Imanipour touched upon the Turkish civilization in the history of Islam and lauded the influential activities of Istanbul’s Zeynebiye Mosque in enhancing Islamic culture.
Building mosques is a valuable asset for the Muslim world, he said, praising Zeynebiye Mosque’s efforts for constructing various mosques across Turkey. He said more investment needs to be made on mosque construction.
The Iranian official said it is necessary to convey religious culture to the younger generation using modern literature and methods, stressing the role of social media in this regard.
Zeynebiye Mosque can use social media with a serious religious perspective and get closer to the youth by promoting social skills and up-to-date knowledge, he added.
Talking about features of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Imanipour said that the Revolution is a living and dynamic current with unique characteristics that distinguish it from other revolutions in the world.
“In fact, it was a necessity for Islam, it was a necessity for Muslims and it was a divine tradition to preserve the religion.”
The Islamic Revolution belongs to all free thinkers in the world and it was the start of a new era for Muslims, he said.
Stressing the development and strengthening of academic cooperation between Iran and Turkey, the official expressed ICRO’s readiness to cooperate in staging special courses for Turkish students and the scientific community, especially for the youth of Zeynebiye.
For his part, Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyid Seccad Karakuş presented a report of the union’s activities. The Union of Shiite Scholars of Turkey, he said, was established some 10 years ago by a group of Turkish Shia scholars. The union has managed to build some 50 mosques in different cities, he said.
Activities of the union include conducting scientific, educational, religious, Quranic, research as well as writing, translating, and publishing books, he added.
