Handwritten Quran Copies On Display in Baku

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Copies of the Holy Quran and Sahifah Sajjadiyah calligraphed in Thulth script by Iranian calligraphers have been put on display at an exhibition in Baku, Azerbaijan.

 

 

According to the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, one of the precious works on show includes 9 Surahs of the Holy Quran written in 90 pages and illuminated with gold. It has a 35*50 cm silver cover with filigree.

The art and calligraphy exhibition was opened on August 17 by the Iranian Cultural Center on the occasion of Eid Al-Ghadir.

Asghar Farsi, the Iranian cultural attaché, and a number of Azerbaijani cultural figures, artists and calligraphers were present in the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

Addressing the ceremony, the Iranian official highlighted the important role of culture and art in developing relations between the two countries.

He said calligraphy is part of the Iranian rich civilization, adding that the participation of a large number of cultural figures and artists at the exhibition shows how much the citizens in Baku are interested in Quranic and Islamic- Iranian culture and art.

Quran manuscripts in different sizes and shapes as well as more than 50 artworks by Ali Abdulhusseinzadeh, eminent Iranian calligrapher, have been showcased at the exhibition.
