According to the website of the Astan, they include Tarteel recitation of the Quran and Quran recitation sessions.

They will be held in the holy shrine after congregational prayers and after Iftar (breaking fast).

The center will also hold the programs in more than 60 mosques and religious centers in Najaf and nearby cities.

Ramadan, the ninth month in the Islamic lunar calendar, starts on May 27 this year.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast as an effective way of practicing self-discipline. They are also expected to strengthen their character through self-restraint, charitable-giving and introspection.

Reading, reciting and contemplating the Holy Quran is also a major activity for Muslims during the holy month.
