Photos of Ashura Mourning Rituals in Karbala
TEHRAN (IQNA) – Some three million pilgrims from Iraq and other countries took part in mourning ceremonies held in the holy city of Karbala on Sunday, the day of Ashura.
The mourning rituals included Rakdha Tuwairaj, which is walking barefoot from the town of Hindya (formerly known as Tuwairaj) to the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) while beating their head and chest and then leave the holy shrine within a short time.
